Aren't school holidays masculine plural in French?
I guess the text could be refering to normal holidays... I thought it was refering to school ones.

En français, les vacances (scolaires, ou "normales"
sont toujours les vacances, au féminin pluriel.
Au singulier, une vacance de poste (mot également féminin) signifie qu'un poste (de travail, ou un poste d'élu) n'est plus occupé, qu'il est libre, qu'il est vacant.
