I don't think it's quite clear the way it's written..I agree that it could mean both, though.

Whoops! Missed that one. You are right, it's not "good news"; it's "good things", "compliments". There is some ambiguity butI think the "good news" translation belongs in the notes since, to me, it's only a secondary meaning of the phrase.
