And I assume "és especial" = "c'è speciale" refers to the feeling itself that is being mentioned, and not to the person the message is addressed to, right?

Credo che sia "sei speciale" perché viene dal "(tu) és especial". Nel portughese come nell'italiano si può dire senza impiegare il pronome.
