To 'touch wood' in English is a gesture seeking Luck. The phrase as a literal translation has no meaning in Spanish.

What about Italian?

Yes, in Italy we say something similar, but not involving the wood.

The more polite way is "tocca ferro!" (in English: "touch iron!" )
The other way is more common but a little bit vulgar, I'd better not to tell it

I`d tranlate snappy as "traicionero" or "matrero". And for "touch wood" I`d go for "pega madera"or even "que venga la suerte".

tocar madera = to touch wood, that is correct, but is this the only word to translate? what about the whole sentence?
