It´s because of pronunciation. In Genyka ny is something like Spanish Ň. When romanizing that sound, I usually use y to indicate that the consonant has been softened.

Genyka---Genka? misspelling or diminutive form out of any reason.Otherwise all right.

That's because this "n" in there is just a nasal sign (as the spanish ñ, portuguese ~ and japanese -n-).
