"Visa män urinerar inte i motvind" | | | 11 januari 2009 18:19 | | lenabAantal berichten: 1084 | OK, I just thought that "vir" is singular
Shall I change it back?? | | | 11 januari 2009 18:35 | | | It is singular, indeed.
What I mean is that quotes aren't always translated using the 'exact' words.
Both translations are correct, but quotes sometimes become more popular in a version that is not exactly a word-by-word translation.
You must know better how this 'saying' is known in Swedish.
In Portuguese, for example, the translation of it is not as "polite" and the term used for "urinate" is more vulgar.
Instead of the literal translation:
"Um homem sábio não urina contra o vento" it would be:
"Quem é esperto não mija contra o vento"
See what I mean? | | | 11 januari 2009 19:15 | | lenabAantal berichten: 1084 | Aha! Then there is a more "vulgar" way to put it in Swedish too. But it's more like an advise: Man ska inte pissa i motvind. There is also a similar: Man ska inte spotta i motvind. Nothing about wise men there! | | | 11 januari 2009 19:35 | | | |
