Hi Sweet Dreams,
Actually the original is not correctly structured (it should be: "É como se o meu namorado fosse da famÃlia" ou "meu namorado é como alguém da famÃlia" ) and that's why the literal translation sounds wrong.
We could render this line as:
"My boyfriend is like a family member" (simple, but fine)
or
"It's as if my boyfriend belonged to the family"
or
"My boyfriend seems to be part of the family"
or even:
"It's like if my boyfriend was part of the family"
