En verdad, el afororismo de Séneca critica el sistema educativo de su tiempo (que instruÃa sin formar) y en su forma original es una antÃtesis adversativa muy usual en su prosa:
"Quemadmodum omnium rerum, sic literarum quoque intemperantia laboramus:
non vitae, sed scholae discimus
." (
