"The pain that grieves your heart goes by, smiling..."
Wouldn't it sound better : makes the heart to grieve.?
also..."goes by" gives the sense of "passing", yes, but in this text the meaning is : "the pain is over", "finishes" by smiling.
Don't you think?
Let's find a better way to say that OK?
